St Hilda's is a splendid late 12th century church which has recently been re-ordered to provide more flexible worship spaces, performance areas and social / community facilities. These include a Visitor Centre which traces the history of the Hartlepool Headland, where St Hild lived and worked as Abbess before moving to Whitby to found the Abbey there. She died in 680 AD.
